The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland commissioned Abound to produce design concepts for a new entrance plaza and meerkat enclosure. The brief aimed to address a family audience and introduce visitors to the zoo’s important conservation work. Our proposals included:

a sculptural arch that would appear to move as visitors moved round it

a world map set into the ground, with paw-prints, leading to iconic animals on the map, incorporating ‘fun facts’

touchable specimens related to conservation messages that the zoo wish to communicate

We were also commissioned to envision zones within a new eco-friendly reception building at Edinburgh Zoo. The hope is that the new facility will provide a unique, exciting and fun, journey of discovery and learning about ecology and the zoo's world-wide conservation work.
